About Judy Fluor Runels
Dr. Judy Fluor Runels has been working with people living with HIV and AIDS since 2000. She has a Psy.D. in Psychology/Marriage and Family Therapy. She works with couples, individuals, and groups, assisting them to develop better relationship and communications skills, and has extensive experience in working with people living with a chronic or terminal illness. Her theoretical orientation is humanistic, existential, and experiential, and she is completing Certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She is currently on the Medical Staff at Huntington Beach Hospital s Department of Psychiatry.
She has facilitated harm reduction model support groups for adults with substance abuse issues,presented at HIV/AIDS conferences, assisted with HIV training for the County of Orange, done workshops on pain management, maintaining sobriety, and coping with stress. Her specialties: grief trauma, bereavement/loss, caregiver burn out.
In 2010, she received an award from SCCPI, the Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative, for contributions made to cancer relief and palliative care. In 2013,Orange County Register honored her as an outstanding volunteer for her work with people living with HIV and AIDS with the AIDS Services Foundation.
